How to Test Your RAM in Windows
There are two methods you can use to test your RAM in Windows: the built-in Memory Diagnostics tool (mdsched.exe) and an external tool. Here are the steps for each method:
Method 1: Memory Diagnostics Tool (mdsched.exe)
to open the Run dialogue.
- Type
mdsched.exe
and press Enter. - Select "Restart now and check for problems (recommended)".
- Your computer will restart and begin the memory diagnostic tool.
- Wait for the test to complete. This may take several minutes.
- If no errors are found, you will see a message saying so. If errors are found, they will be listed on the screen. You may need to replace your RAM if errors are found.
Method 2: External Tool
